Police Blotter: Holiday Weekend Brings Drunken Driven Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the Macomb County Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

Man Arrested in Hit-and-Run

Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home on the 47000 block of Beacon Square on July 5 around 2 a.m. for the report of a vehicle hitting a parked car. Deputies observed that a Pontiac Grand Am had crashed into a parked Buick Regal. The Grand Am's front airbags had deployed and 105 feet of skid marks were found leading up to the crash site. Deputies believe the Grand Am was driving southbound on Beacon Square at a high rate of speed when it struck the Regal head on.

Witnesses to the accident said the man who got out of the Grand Am approached them and said he would leave the scene and return with a family member. The man never returned to the scene. With the assistance of a K9 unit and information from the license plate, deputies were able to find the driver, who police said had his operator's license suspended.
