Police Blotter: Macomb Man Stunned with Taser for Resisting Arrest

Officers taser man resisting arrest

On Nov. 26 a few minutes after midnight, Macomb County Sheriff's officers were dispatched to a home in the 17000 block of Dalworth Street in Macomb Township for a report of possible assault.

At the scene, the victim, a 54-year-old Macomb Township man, told deputies that he and the suspect, a 30-year-old Macomb Township man also living in the home, had had a verbal argument that escalated to a fist fight in which the suspect hit the victim's head repeatedly.

During the arrest, the suspect attempted to hit his arresting officer. Deputies ordered him to cooperate or he would be stunned by a Taser gun. The suspect refused to comply with officers and he was stunned. The suspect complained of chest pain immediately after and EMS was called to examine the man before being transported to the Macomb County Jail.

Cleared by EMS, the man was arested for domestic violence assault and resisting/obstructing arrest and taken to MCJ where he was held without bond.

Drunken driving

On Nov. 27 at approximately 6:45 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's dispatch received a report of a vehicle left running on the side of roadway near the 56900 block of North Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies observed a man slumped over the wheel of the car asleep. After waking the man, a 54-year-old New Baltimore resident, officers performed a preliminary breath test during which the man registered a .22 blood alcohol content.

Having prior operating while intoxicated charges, the man was arrested for a third OWI and first driving with a suspended license. He was transported to the Macomb County Jail and held without bond.
