Police Blotter: Stops Made for Accident, Expired Plate End in Marijuana Arrests

Expired plate leads to arrest for marijuana possession

On June 4, at approximately 11:34 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies stopped a 20-year-old Macomb Township man in the area of 22 Mile and Romeo Plank for driving with an expired plate on his vehicle. 

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers smelled an odor of marijuana and conducted a preliminary search that revealed marijuana stems and seeds in the vehicle's ashtray. More marijuana was later found in the driver's side pocket, according to police.

The man was arrested for possession of marijuana and cited for his expired plate. He was transported to the Macomb County Jail.

Hall Road accident uncovers marijuana, narcotics paraphernalia

On June 5, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies responded to a two-car accident at Hall Road and Romeo Plank.

The 22-year-old Washington Township driver told deputies he had been checking his phone and had been unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him, causing an injury accident, according to police.

While at the scene of the accident, officers found marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia in the driver's possession. He was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia and transported to the Macomb County Jail. He was not cited for the accident, according to police.
