Police Blotter: Suspected Drug User Passed Out at Pump

Woman found passed out at Mobil Gas

On Jan. 13, shortly after midnight, Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the at 46900 North Avenue for the report of an unresponsive woman sitting in a running vehicle.

Upon arrival at the gas station, officers found a 51-year-old Chesterfield Township woman passed out in her car, which was left running beside a pump. Gas station employees told police she had been in the car for approximately 30 minutes.

Initially unable to wake the woman, officers called MedStar Ambulance and Macomb Township fire emergency services to the scene. Finally able to wake the woman and enter the vehicle, officers discovered a hypodermic needle and glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana or crack cocaine, according to the police report.

Officers arrested the woman for possession of narcotic equipment and transported her to the Macomb County Jail. Her vehicle was impounded.

Drunken driver at Romeo Plank and 21 Mile

On Jan. 14, shortly after midnight, a Macomb County Sheriff's patrol observed a suspected drunken driver traveling southbound on Romeo Plank near 21 Mile Road. At one point, the vehicle was seen to cross the divider and nearly collide with another vehicle before running a red light at the Romeo Plank and 21 Mile Road intersection, according to the police report. 

Officers stopped the 39-year-old female driver from Lincoln Park and had her perform a series of sobriety tests—most of which she failed, according to the report. A partial preliminary breath test revealed the woman's blood alcohol content to be 0.114. A second breath test at the Macomb County Jail showed the woman's BAC to be 0.20. Police arrested the woman for operating while intoxicated and held her at the MCJ on a $100 bond.

Shelby man attempts theft of scrap metal

On Jan. 15, at approximately 5:06 p.m., a Macomb County Sheriff's patrol observed a truck leave a closed business with what appeared to be several metal pallets in the truck bed. Officers stopped the vehicle to ask the driver his business with the pallets.

The man, a 57-year-old Shelby Township resident, told police he had been given permission by an employee of the business to take the pallets. Upon contacting the owner of the business, police learned no such employee existed.

Police arrested the man for larceny, ranging from $200-$1,000, and transported him to the Macomb County Jail where he was held without bond.
