Police: Man Approaches Child in Shelby Township

A fifth stranger danger incident has been reported in Shelby Township in the past two months.

The Shelby Township police are warning the community about a possible stranger danger situation that occurred Sunday afternoon.

Police said a man driving a smaller red pickup truck–possibly a Chevy S-10 or a Dodge Dakota–approached a child just after 4 p.m. in the Shelby Forest Mobile Home Park near 23 Mile and Schoenherr roads.

Police said the man cracked open his window and asked a 12-year-old boy if he wanted to get in his truck.

When the boy said no, the driver of the pickup quickly left and continued traveling North on Schoenherr Road.

Police told Patch.com that the boy did not get a good look at the driver’s face because he only cracked the tinted window on his pickup truck to talk to the boy.

Since March, by a man described as Hispanic, in his mid-30s, tall and stocky. The children said the man had short black hair, a mustache and a tattoo on his right arm. He was reported to be driving a small black SUV.

The Shelby Township police have not said if the latest stranger danger report is linked to the previous incidents.
