Sheriff's Deputies Search for Suspect in Home Invasion, Stabbing

Female victim is in the hospital with two stab wounds to the neck.

A 69-year-old Macomb Township woman is in the hospital with two stab wounds to the neck following a home invasion this morning in the area of Fairchild Road and 22 Mile.

Macomb County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a suspect described by the victim as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s with “big eyes” and wearing a blue jean jacket.

“Obviously, the intruder, when he takes two knives and sticks them into the victim’s neck, he had every intent to kill that victim,” said Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. “She’s in surgery now and we’re praying for her recovery.”

The incident occurred in the 49000 block of Fairchild at approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect forcibly entered the home, despite a deadbolt lock. According to the victim’s 911 call, he attempted to steal a purse and remove two rings from her hand.

Wickersham said it is not known at this time if the suspect did in fact leave the home with these items.

The victim, who lives alone, was able to make the 911 call. When deputies arrived at the scene, she was still conscious and lying in the hallway of the home.

She was transported to the Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center and was still in surgery as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. It is not known at this time if the suspect brought the knives with him, or used ones already in the home.

The Sheriff's Office was assisted in its search for the suspect by canine units training in the area and the Border Patrol helicopter; however, it is believed the suspect left the area in a vehicle.

A neighbor of the victim reported that a relative of his had picked up a white male in the 22 Mile and Fairchild area and transported him to 15 Mile and Gratiot, Wickersham said.

This individual is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds, of medium build and wearing a black work-style coat, dark pants, gloves and a black knit hat. He is also described as having dark eyes, a mustache, a reddish color beard and a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

“We’re thinking it’s a pretty good percentage that this is definitely an individual that we want to get a hold of and interview and find out what he was doing in that area,” Wickersham said.

No one has been arrested or detained in this case at this time.

Anyone who has any information on this case, or knows a person fitting either of these descriptions, is asked to call 586-307-9358.
