Suspected Hit-And-Run Driver Arraigned

A man suspected of crashing into a vehicle while drunken driving and then fleeing police was arraigned Saturday on various charges.

A Macomb Township man was arraigned Saturday on several charges related to a hit-and-run car crash Friday in Shelby Township, police said Saturday.

Shelby Township police were called Friday afternoon about the crime in the area of 23 Mile and Shelby roads.

Police said they tried pulling the driver of the vehicle that was described in the hit-and-run over, but he would not stop. A short police chase ensued before the driver was caught, according to police.

The responding officer said the driver was “highly intoxicated,” and was arrested without incident.

The driver was lodged at theShelby Township Police Department until his arraignment Saturday.

He was expected to be arraigned on charges of hit-and-run, fleeing and eluding police and drunken driving, second offense.

Bond was set, but Shelby Township police did not immediately release the amount.
