UPDATE: Search Continues for Suspect in Macomb Township Stabbing

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office just released this photo of a person of interest who was in the area at the time of the stabbing.

The Macomb County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the of a 69-year-old Macomb Township woman in the area of Fairchild and 22 Mile Road Wednesday morning.

The sheriff's office released a picture of a man who has been named a person of interest in the investigation. Police said a relative of the victim's neighbor picked the man up in the area of Fairchild and 22 Mile Road and drove him to 15 Mile Road and Gratiot.

The man is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, with dark eyes, a mustache, a scrubby beard reddish brown in color, and having a colorful tattoo on left side of his neck. He was wearing a black work-style coat, dark pants, gloves, black knit hat and black boots.

Authorities said it is not known if this person is the same man who attacked the woman.

The victim, who has not been named, is being closely monitored by staff at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center, where she was transported and taken into surgery following the attack.

The home invasion and stabbing occurred in the 49000 block of Fairchild at approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The suspect forcibly entered the home, despite a deadbolt lock. According to the victim’s 911 call, he attempted to steal a purse and remove two rings from her hand. The victim was stabbed twice in the neck, but was conscious when deputies arrived at the scene.

The victim described her attacker as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s with “big eyes” and wearing a blue jean jacket.
