Washington Township Driver Rolls Vehicle on 26 Mile
A 24-year-old Washington Township man crashed into a utility pole and rolled his vehicle early Friday morning on 26 Mile Road.
Macomb County Sheriff's deputies responded to a vehicle accident at 3:40 a.m. Friday morning on 26 Mile Road, just east of Luchtman Road.
The sheriff's office said the driver, a 24-year-old Washington Township resident, was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on 26 Mile Road when he lost control of his GMC Jimmy, rolled off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
A Patch reader who lives in the area of the accident reported his home lost power between 3:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. due to the severed pole.

Capt. John Roberts of the sheriff's office said the driver was injured in the accident and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He added that the sheriff's office is further investigating the accident and will seek charges against the driver for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Considering how serious the accident looked, Roberts said, "He's lucky, there's no doubt about that."
