14 Republicans Enter Race for 7 Macomb Township Board Seats

Voters will have only Republican candidates to choose from when choosing their nominees for the township's seven-member board in the Aug. 7 primary election.

Macomb Township residents won’t have to worry about voting along party lines this August, as all 14 candidates running for the township’s seven-member board are Republican.

All seven board seats–supervisor, clerk, treasurer and four trustees–are up for election this year, with each carrying a four-year term.

Incumbent Supervisor Mark Grabow entered his bid for a second term, but will face challengers Charles T. Missig and current Trustee Janet Dunn for the Republican nomination in the August primary.

“I take this action because of my long standing professional and personal desire to serve our community, and my belief that those who serve should be responsive to the needs of the residents of this fine township,” wrote Missig on his campaign Facebook page.

Dunn, who also filed for re-election to her current trustee post, must withdraw one of her bids by 4 p.m. Friday.

The candidates have until 4 p.m. Friday to withdraw their names from the race. On Monday, the township election commission will meet to certify the remaining candidates for the Aug. 7 ballot. This meeting is open to the public and will take place at 10 a.m. in Conference Room A on the second floor of .

The 2012 board candidates include:

Supervisor

  • Incumbent Supervisor Mark Grabow, who ran and won as a Democrat in 2008, but will run as a Republican this year.
  • Incumbent Trustee Janet Dunn
  • Charles Missig

Clerk

  • Incumbent Clerk Michael Koehs, who ran unopposed in 2008.
  • Cathy Imbronone, co-owner of and

Treasurer

  • Incumbent Treasurer Karen Goodhue, who was appointed to the position in 2010 to complete the term of former treasurer Marie Malburg.
  • Thomas Christ

Trustee (4 Seats)

  • Incumbent Trustees Roger Krzeminski, Dino Bucci, Nancy Nevers, Janet Dunn
  • Clifford Freitas
  • Ernie Laing
  • Renee Michaels
  • Maria Napolitano

Register for the August Primary

According to the Michigan Department of State, the last day to register to vote in the Aug. 7 primary election is July 9. The last day to register for the Nov. 6 general election is Oct. 9. If you're planning to vote in Macomb Township, you must also be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years old
  • A resident of Macomb Township

You may register to vote at the Clerk's Office (located inside ) or at any Secretary of State branch office. If you've moved to Macomb Township since the last time you voted, you must register again.

All Michigan voters must use the same residential address for voter registration and driver's license. Consequently, if you change your voter registration address, your driver's license will change, and vice versa.
