County Clerk and Secretary of State Join Forces to Aid Macomb Customers

The county clerk mobile office will visit all seven Secretary of State branch offices located in Macomb County throughout July and August to provide customers with two-in-one service.

The Macomb County Clerk’s mobile office is coming to a Secretary of State near you.

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh announced Thursday that the county clerk mobile office will visit all seven Secretary of State branch offices located in Macomb County throughout July and August.

The partnership is intended to serve as a one-stop shop, allowing customers access to Secretary of State and county business in a single trip.

"Government at all levels has to look at ways to provide good service and make it cost-effective," Johnson said, in a release. "This effort with the Macomb County Clerk's office is part of our ongoing efforts to look at where we can save money and streamline operations with public-public partnerships."

In addition to saving residents’ time and gas, the joint effort will also increase access to clerk and register of deeds services, and ensure birth records are available for driver's license applicants.

"Providing one-stop shopping for birth records and driver's licenses will improve service," Sabaugh said, in a release. "I am honored that Secretary Johnson agreed to host county clerk services for Macomb County residents."

County clerk services to be offered include: birth certificates, real estate deed and mortgage records, death certificates, business registrations, marriage licenses, circuit court records and voter registration. However, only Macomb County records will be available.

Macomb County Clerk services will be available in the following Secretary of State offices from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on these dates:

  • July 13 - Romeo office at 71130 Van Dyke Road in Bruce Township
  • July 27 - North Macomb County PLUS Office at 51305 Gratiot Ave. in Chesterfield Township
  • Aug. 3 - Southeast Macomb County PLUS Office at 24040 Harper Ave. in St. Clair Shores
  • Aug. 10 - Southwest Macomb County PLUS Office at 28220 Dequindre Road in Warren
  • Aug. 16 - Clinton Township SUPER!Center at 37015 S. Gratiot Ave.
  • Aug. 24 - Central Macomb County PLUS Office at 50640 Schoenherr Road in Shelby Township
  • Aug. 31 - Sterling Heights office at 34208 Van Dyke Ave.

There is no extra cost to taxpayers for the partnership because existing staff and resources are being used. However, regular fees for document copies and filing apply.

Regular fees are:

Birth, death, marriage or business record, certified copy $15 for first copy $5 each additional copy of same record Military discharge Certified copy $1 Business registration $10 for filing, includes two certified copies Marriage license application $20 Michigan residents, $30 out-of-state Concealed pistol license application fee $105 for application, and add $15 if Clerk's Office provides E-photo Real estate recordings $14 first page, $3 each additional page Real estate documents, certified copies Minimum of $7: Add 50 cents per year if search includes more than 10-year search and add $1 per page of record Circuit court documents Regular copies: $1 per page. Certified copies: $10 plus, $1 per page Notary public applications $10
