Dems Miller, Garstka to Race Sabatinis for District 9, 13 County Commission Seats

The Nov. 6 general election will see Juliana Sabatini (R) face incumbent Commissioner Fred Miller (D) in District 9, and incumbent Commissioner Joe Sabatini (R) take on challenger Jonathan Garstka (D) in District 13.

In District 9, incumbent Commissioner Fred Miller defeated challenger Bruce H. Brazen for the Democratic nomination by an 84.6 vote margin Tuesday.

Miller, who was elected to his first two-year term in November 2010, will now face Republican candidate Juliana Sabatini in November.

Juliana Sabatini ran uncontested for the District 9 Republican nomination, receiving 2,880 votes.

District 9 covers Harrison Township and parts of Mount Clemens and Clinton Township

In District 13, incumbent Commissioner Joe Sabatini won the Republican nomination by 63.1 percent of the vote, defeating challenger Kevin Karwowicz.

Elected to his first two-year term in November 2010, Joe Sabatini will run for re-election on Nov. 6 against Democrat Jonathan Garstka, who ran unopposed for the District 13 Democratic nomination. Garstka received 2,348 votes.

District 13 covers portions of Shelby, Clinton and Macomb townships, and the City of Utica.

Results are unofficial until confirmed by the Macomb County clerk's office.
