Dunn, 70, defeated Tuesday by a margin of only 515 votes. The third candidate, , received 29 percent of the primary vote.

As there are no Democratic candidates to run against Dunn in the Nov. 6 general election, Dunn will be the township's next supervisor and the first female to hold this position.

Dunn said she found this to be “very encouraging.”

“I think it means that the people like what we’re doing and they didn’t want any changes. I think the way that (other candidates) tried to portray us – I think people realize that we’re not like that, that we’ve been doing a good job all these years and they supported us.”

In the clerk's race, incumbent (R) received 56 percent of the vote, or 3,696 votes, to defeat Republican challenger by 780 votes.

“I’m grateful for everyone’s support and look forward to another four years keeping Macomb Township moving forward,” Koehs said of his re-election.

(R) also won re-election, defeating her Republican challenger with 55 percent of the vote.

All three incumbent trustees were re-elected, with newcomer Freitas also elected to his first term on the township board. All trustee candidates ran as Republicans.
