Macomb Township Plans Veteran's Day Celebration for Nov. 9
Those who served and lost their lives in combat will be honored during a service at the memorial outside Town Hall.
Macomb Township veterans will be honored by their own community for the first time Nov. 9 when the Macomb Township Community Foundation hosts a Veteran's Day memorial at Town Hall. Veteran's Day is officially Sunday, Nov. 11 this year.
The event will take place at 4 p.m. and should last about 30 minutes, Trustee Roger Krzeminski said at Wednesday's Board of Trustees meeting. The following will be included in the ceremony:
- A representative from the Church of the Covenant will lead a prayer
- Roseville-based Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 154 will perform a 21-gun salute
- A performance of "Taps."
“I hope everybody will consider showing up because it will be our celebration of veterans who have served and who have passed away. It will be an annual event from now on," said Trustee Nancy Nevers.

In 2010, the Foundation dedicated a Veteran's Memorial, which stands outside Town Hall. In addition, bricks honoring Macomb Township's veterans continue to be sold by the Foundation to sit as a permanent reminder of their service.
