Township Board Takes Care of Business
Liquor license, parks and recreation purchases and summer school taxes handled swiftly and without incident.
The ayes had it at the Board of Trustees meeting Wednesday night.
The board tackled a number of issues, including authorization of the L'Anse Creuse Summer Tax Collection Agreement. The agreement would allow the township to collect summer taxes for the L'Anse Creuse district, with bills to be sent to property owners on or before July 1, 2011.
The board returned to old business and unanimously approved a Class C Liquor License for the located in the Stratford Plaza at the corner of 23 Mile and Card roads.
Township Clerk Michael D. Koehs said of the matter: “Nothing indicates we should not look favorably on this.”
Parks and Recreation Director Salvatore A. DiCaro presented a number of requests for new equipment and services. The requests come in large part from the opening of the new , which brings with it the need to maintain added athletic fields.
The department requested permission to purchase:
- A $13,760 John Deere 2720 four-wheel drive tractor and $2,360 John Deere 200CX loader from Tri County Equipment-Sandusky.
- Permission to purchase a $7,876.22 Aera-Vator that includes a rake and roller, from Spartan Distributor, with a $200 freight cost.
- An $1,837 field-striping machine from Sherwin Williams to use at Macomb Corners and Town Center parks for athletic competition.
- The department also asked for approval to award a three-year custodial contract for the recreation center to American Cleaning Company. The department initially looked at 15 bids ranging from $2,800 to $18,500 per month and further narrowed that down to four. The department decided to go with American Cleaning Company's bid for $3,676.50 per month, which includes man hours, equipment and supplies.
The board approved the three purchase bids and the cleaning contract.
