Township Preps for Effects of Disabled Veterans Tax Exemption Law

Macomb Township residents affected by a new law regarding tax exemptions for disabled veterans can file an affidavit to cancel their July and December taxes, according to a report from The Voice

According to the report, Macomb Township Supervisor Janet Dunn instructed residents how to file affidavits at the township's Nov. 25 meeting.

The law, P.A. 161, is applicable for veterans who are permanently disabled, totally disabled per the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, and widows and widowers who have not remarried. Dunn stressed urgency, the report indicated, because the December board of review can cancel the July and December taxes for those who qualify under the law.

According to the report, Dunn said more information is available on the township’s website or by contacting the township assessor’s office, (586) 992-0710.
