What You Need to Know About Voting Absentee in Macomb Township

If you’re not able to get to the polls Nov. 6, you still have time to vote absentee.

Macomb Township residents have until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 to request an absentee ballot from the clerk’s office.

Completed absent voter ballots can be mailed to the township clerk or delivered personally to: Michael D. Koehs, CMC, Clerk; 54111 Broughton Road, Macomb, MI 48042

The clerk's office must receive absentee ballots by mail or in-person delivery by the close of the polls Nov. 6 (8 p.m.) for these votes to be counted. A voter eligible to vote absentee may also vote in person at the township clerk's office anytime up to 4 p.m. Monday.

The Macomb Township clerk's office will be open Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accommodate last-minute absentee voters.

As a registered voter, you may obtain an absentee voter ballot if you are:

• age 60 years old or older
• unable to vote without assistance
• expecting to be out of town on election day
• in jail awaiting arraignment or trial
• unable to attend the polls because of religious beliefs
• appointed to work as an election inspector in a precinct outside of your precinct of residence.

Macomb Township Clerk Michael Koehs said around 11,800 absentee ballots had been mailed out as of Nov. 2 and more than 9,000 of those have been returned, surpassing the total number of absentee votes cast in the 2008 presidential election, according to results from the Macomb County Clerk's Office.

The polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, and close at 8 p.m. Use this chart to find your precinct.
