3 Questions With Trenton School Board Race Newcomer David French

David French has lived in Trenton for over 35 years. He graduated from Trenton High School and serves as his class reunion committee president.

Voters will be heading to the polls Tuesday to decide who to elect for the Trenton Public Schools Board of Education.

There are two spots open on the board and three candidates running. David French is one of those candidates.

French, 53, has lived in Trenton for over 35 years, graduated from Trenton High School and serves as his class reunion committee president. He works as the IT services manager for I*LOGIC, a Tier One Automotive Supplier of Program Management.

French and his wife, Beth, are the parents of six Trenton High School graduates.

If elected, this would be French's first time on the board.

Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch editor Nate Stemen caught up with French to find out what his plans are for the district, if elected.

Why run for school board?

"I have been involved with the Trenton Public Schools for many years in various leadership roles (Trenton Band Boosters for 11 years and as a founding member of the Trenton Educational Foundation in 2008 until 2012) and I felt the time was right to seek a seat on the Board of Education to support the district more directly.

"I believe that a strong school district provides much more than just an education, one of the many benefits is that it attracts new young home buyers into our community to help increase our student enrollment."

What are you plans for the school board? What would you do if elected? Anything specific?

"I plan to continue the excellence in education that Trenton has always striven to achieve and to support a focus on technology in education, which will expand the students overall educational experience. From the arts to sports or the classroom, I support student achievement at all levels in Trenton Public Schools."

What can voters expect from you as a school board member?

I will be reliable, honest and hard working as a Trustee who supports teamwork and collaboration for solving today’s needs in education.
