Cheyenne Students Donate 'Coins For Critters'

Students from Cheyenne Elementary School saved their pennies, and with the help of adults, donated more than $700 to the Macomb Humane Society.

Second grade students from Nicole Simons class at Cheyenne Elementary School visited the Macomb Humane Society in Shelby Township Thursday to present a donation from the Coins for Critters fundraiser.
Throughout the year students donated coins, chore money and savings to the effort.
Caterina Vitale, 7, of Macomb Township, donated $100 of her communion gifts to the fundraiser.
"It has been great," she said of giving her large donation.
Students and staff raised $485.11 for the effort, and Dr. Zvi Kennet also donated $300 after reading about the efforts of the students on Patch.
After presenting the donation, the students learned about the importance of caring for animals and took a tour of the facility.
