Chippewa Valley Adds $50 Pay-to-Play Fee for Marching Band

Marching band and color guard members will join athletes in paying to play their sport.

If Gabriel wants to blow his horn in a Chippewa Valley marching band next year, he'll have to pay $50 up front.

The Chippewa Valley Schools Board of Education passed a $50 pay-to-participate fee for marching band and color guard members at its July 18 meeting.

The $50 fee was reduced from the $100 anticipated earlier this summer.

Superintendent Ron Roberts said the fee will help the district offset current costs to run the marching band and color guard programs. However, it is not expected to cover all costs associated with it. For band parents, this means regular fund-raisers will continue. Cookie dough anyone?
