CARE’s Youth Support Summer Camp

First Presbyterian Church is home to a five-day CARE (Community Assessment Referral and Education) Youth Support Summer Camp, for youth ages 6-15 who are being affected by a loved one’s substance abuse. The camp will meet every day that week from 8:30 a.m.-noon.

The goal of the camp is to empower children and caregivers with the skills necessary to live and even thrive in a family with addiction. Camp days are filled with activities built around themes like “Feelings” and “Self-Worth." Campers will learn skills to cope with anger and anxiety, and healthy ways to care for themselves. Fun games, crafts and activities are planned.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To sign up, call CARE at 586-541-0033 ext.216 or visit the organization's website, www.careofsem.com for more information and registration forms.

Camp is free for youth ages 6–15 affected by a loved one’s use of alcohol or other drugs, or who have a family member in recovery. An optional parent/caregiver support group is offered but attendance is not required. Childcare is available for children ages 3–5 when caregivers attend the support group.
