First Day Facts for Macomb's Lutheran Schools

From the date of picture day to where you can get homework help, here are a few tips to help students in Macomb's Lutheran schools hit the ground running.

Unlike their public counterparts, Macomb Township's Lutheran schools start their 2011-12 academic year Monday. This includes , and .

Whether this is your child's first year or their last at one of these schools, here are five things you need to know before Monday's bell.

  1. Start Times: Immanuel Lutheran and St. Peter begin at 8:15 a.m. and Lutheran North at 7:55 a.m. All three have half days on Monday, Aug. 29.
  2. Labor Day: All three schools recognize the holiday with a four-day weekend. There are no classes Friday, Sept. 2 or Monday, Sept. 5.
  3. Picture Day: Friday, Sept. 9, at Immanuel Lutheran; Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 27-28, at St. Peter; and Thursday, Sept. 8, at Lutheran North.
  4. Dress Code: While each school has its own dress code specifics, such as Immanuel Lutheran mandating that all clothing must be purchased from the Land's End Direct Merchant School Catalog, your best bet is to stock up on solid colored polos, tan khakis and navy cardigans. Check your school's dress code here: Immanuel Lutheran, St. Peter and Lutheran North
  5. Homework Help: For those students who live in Clinton and Macomb townships, the Live Homework Help program through the Clinton-Macomb Public Library's website is a lifesaver. As long as you have a library card, you can access live tutors from 4-11 p.m. every day.
