In Brief: Oakland University Expands into Macomb with Mount Clemens Campus

Oakland University will open its third campus in Macomb County this fall.

Oakland University just got a whole lot closer for Macomb County residents.

This fall, the new Anton/Frankel Center at 20 South Main St. in Mount Clemens will open its doors for OU students.

Donated by Gebran Anton and Stuart Frankel, the Mount Clemens center is the third OU educational site in Macomb County. OU programs are also offered at the Macomb University Center of Macomb Community College and the Macomb Intermediate School District in Clinton Township.

"This generous donation has enabled the university to further its commitment to increase educational opportunities for residents in the region," said Mary Otto, OU's vice president for Outreach, in a release.

With more than 30 percent of OU students residing in Macomb County, adding another Macomb site was a priority for OU’s Division of Outreach.

More than 30 courses will be offered this fall, with the number of course offerings increasing in future semesters. Students will be able to enroll in courses such as music, dance, psychology, sociology, political science, writing and communications.

The two-story, 25,422-square-foot center will provide classrooms as well as offices for advising, student support services, faculty and staff.
