Kindergarten Registration Dates for Chippewa Valley, New Haven Schools

Macomb Township's public schools will offer only all-day kindergarten this year.

Parents looking to enroll their children in Chippewa Valley or New Haven's kindergarten programs should plan to attend these districts' respective registration nights this week and next.

Chippewa Valley Schools

In Chippewa Valley Schools, registration for the 2012-13 school year will take place at all elementary schools on March 14 and 15. .

Buildings will have registration packets available for pick up and/or mailing.

Parents should contact the school they are interested in, or the community relations office at 586-723-2240 for the specific date and time of their registration.

New Haven Community Schools

In New Haven Community Schools, the Kindergarten Round-Up will be held March 20, 6-7:30 p.m., at the Endeavor Elementary Wing and March 22, 6-7:30 p.m., at New Haven Elementary. New Haven offers only full-day kindergarten.

While other Macomb districts have already held their open houses, resident students can still register in Utica Community Schools and L'Anse Creuse Public Schools. Both districts will offer only full-day kindergarten next year.

Utica Community Schools

Resident parents can enroll a child in the Utica school he or she will attend any time during the remaining school year. Summer registration is available two weeks before the start of the school year.

L'Anse Creuse Public Schools

Resident parents can enroll a child in the L'Anse Creuse school he or she will attend any time during the remaining school year and when the buildings re-open in August. Registration is done at the school the child is slated to attend. 

Parents should call the district's curriculum office at 586-783-6300.

Documents Required to Register

Parents planning to register their child should have the following information readily available:

  • Parent identification (driver's license or state ID)
  • Original birth certificate
  • Proof of residency (recent closing papers, current lease agreement in parents name, or multiple current utility bills with parent name and address)
  • Proof of immunizations
  • Vision and hearing test

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Dec. 1 of a school year are eligible to attend kindergarten.
