L'Anse Creuse Contracts New Superintendent for $185,000

Jacqueline Johnston will begin at LCPS with a pro-rated contract for the remainder of 2011-2012 year, with a base salary of $185,000.

L’Anse Creuse Public Schools will start its new superintendent with a $185,000 base salary.

Jacqueline Johnston, who , will begin her career in the district with a pro-rated contract for the remainder of 2011-2012 year and base salary of $185,000.

“We researched the salaries of comparable superintendents in Macomb County,” said Robert Randlett, interim superintendent, in a prepared statement. “Based on information gleaned from the Transparency in Budgeting reports, L’Anse Creuse will continue to employ its superintendent at a salary below those of other Macomb districts with enrollments of 10,000 students or more.”

Johnston is scheduled to start in LCPS on May 1.

“While her official start is in May, Johnston has already begun the transition from Huron Valley to L’Anse Creuse as she begins meeting with various stakeholders from around the district,” said Board of Education President Ken Hoover, in a prepared statement. “We are pleased with how smooth this process has occurred and eagerly look forward to getting Ms. Johnston on board."

Johnston holds a master's degree in educational leadership from Eastern Michigan University where she is currently pursuing her doctorate in education. She earned her bachelor of accountancy from Walsh College.

Johnston is currently superintendent in Huron Valley.
