L'Anse Creuse Narrows Superintendent Search to 3 Candidates

The L'Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education will conduct the final candidate interviews Feb. 11. These interviews are open to the public.

And then there were three.

In a unanimous 7-0 vote Feb. 1, the L’Anse Creuse Public Schools Board of Education narrowed the district’s superintendent search to three candidates.

“We received over 60 applications in response to the open position,” said Ken Hoover, LCPS school board president, in a prepared statement. “Every candidate’s credentials were reviewed by all seven board members. These were then cross-referenced to the profile created in conjunction with community input and the pool was narrowed to approximately 12 candidates.”

Further prescreening and evaluations enabled the board to narrow this group to three candidates on Feb. 1.

“They worked collaboratively to match the right candidates for interview with the established profile,” Hoover said, in a prepared statement.

The final candidate pool includes Dr. Renee Foose, Deputy Superintendent for Baltimore (MD) County Public Schools; Jacqueline Johnson, Superintendent for Huron Valley Schools; and Dr. Michael Meissen, Superintendent for Glenbard Township High School District No. 87.

The candidates return to the district Feb. 9 for a series of scheduled meetings with various employment groups. The interview process continues with a full district tour for each candidate and the opportunity to meet with parents, teachers and concerned residents at a community forum.

All community members are invited to attend a meet and greet reception Feb. 10, from 6-7:30 p.m., at the DiAnne M. Pellerin Center in Clinton Township.

The final stage of the interview process will take place Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. in the DiAnne M. Pellerin Center. These interviews are open to the public.

Former Superintendent Dr. DiAnne Pellerin retired at the end of September, naming L’Anse Creuse Assistant Superintendent of Operations Robert Randlett to the role of interim superintendent pending the hire of a new superintendent.
