For L’Anse Creuse students and staff, school is officially in session.
Crusader Nation packed the L'Anse Creuse High School North gym this morning to kick off the 2012-13 academic year with an energetic pep assembly filled with school pride.
“Welcome back L’Anse Creuse. Today is Tuesday, Sept. 4, and this is day one,” said LCN Principal Greg Dixon.
Dixon started the pep rally by introducing new and returning staff members, including the school’s new associate principal, Carla Postell.
“We’ve got some really exciting things to look forward to this year,” Dixon told students.
The high school recently received $14 million in building renovations, Dixon said. He estimates that about 98 percent of the renovations are complete, with everything fully functional at this point in time. Students will be assigned brand new lockers Wednesday.
Dixon also applauded students’ high ACT scores during the pep assembly.
“Class of 2013, you have the highest ACT score of any class ever in all of L’Anse Creuse–not just our building, in the entire district,” he said.
Class of 2014 students received the highest score on the practice ACT, outperforming the seniors, Dixon noted.
After the assembly, Dixon gave credit to the school’s custodians who are working 12-hour shifts and to the teachers who came in over the holiday weekend to help clean up construction mess and get things ready for the first day.
“They really came through and put in a great team effort,” he said.
