Fiddler on the Roof, Jr., a condensed version of the legendary musical, will come to life on stage Nov. 8-10 at Lutheran High School North in Macomb Township.
The show’s director, Cheryl Marie Freeman, said 50 students and teachers are working on the production, which will be performed in the style of Broadway musicals.
Performances are set for 7 p.m. that Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the school gym. Available at the door, tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and any student up to 18 years old.
The musical tells the story of a poor Jewish family living in war-torn Russia in 1905. One of the characters clashes with her father when she chooses a husband on her own instead of having one chosen for her, as was tradition at the time.
“It’s my favorite musical of all time,” Freeman said. “It features the ensemble; there are not a lot of solos, but there are a lot of group numbers.”
Forty students and four teachers will perform on stage in the ensemble.
