Michigan Merit Exam Scores Breakdown: Chippewa Valley Schools

While the Chippewa Valley school district achieved MME scores above the state average, individually, only the International Academy of Macomb posted scores above the state average in every subject area.

With exceptions in the subject areas of reading and social studies, the majority of Chippewa Valley 11th-graders achieved proficient or advanced proficient scores on the 2011 Michigan Merit Exam, according to .

Students at the International Academy of Macomb led the district's scores by achieving 100 percent proficiency in social studies and science, and near perfect scores in reading, writing and math.

In most subject areas, more than 60 percent of Dakota High School 11th-graders achieved proficiency, while Chippewa Valley High School students trailed Dakota by several percentage points in every category but social studies.

MME scores are divided into four performance levels: advanced, proficient, partially proficient and not proficient. Students who place in either the advanced or proficient levels are considered to be “proficient” in that subject. Those who place in the partially proficient or not proficient levels are “not proficient.”
