On the Agenda: What Chippewa Valley School Board Will Cover at Tonight's Meeting

The district is slated to spend more than $2 million on various equipment and programs to further update its technology.

Tonight's Chippewa Valley Board of Education meeting will focus primarily on increasing the district's technological capabilities by purchasing and installing new equipment and programs.

The school board meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Building, 19120 Cass Ave. in Clinton Township.

The following is a short overview of the items on the agenda:

  • Introduction of : Roberts stepped into the role of interim superintendent when  in January to join County Executive Mark Hackel as .
  • Approve Bid Award for IP Video Solution: The $1,987,730 contract is expected to go to Sentinel Technologies, Inc. This project will support the district's 21st century classroom technology by removing existing video distribution systems and installing broadcast carts in each building throughout the district.
  • Approve Bid Award for GPS Clock Systems: This $73,638 contract to LCOMM will see GPS classroom clocks installed at Chippewa Valley High School, Dakota, the Chippewa Valley 9th Grade Center, Wyandot Middle School and Algonquin Middle School. This system will replace the existing Dukane clocks.
  • Approve Computer Purchase for lAM Program: For almost $150,000, 140 computer systems will be purchased from Netech Corporation for the International Academy of Macomb.
  • The district will renew its membership in the Michigan High School Athletic Association for the period of Aug. 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012.
