On the Agenda: What CV School Board Will Consider at Tonight's Meeting

The board will approve several million dollars in improvements and additions to district buildings.

The Chippewa Valley Schools Board of Education will consider bids at its 6:30 p.m. Monday meeting. The bids, totaling several million dollars, will be awarded to area contractors for various improvements and additions to district buildings.

The following is a short overview of some of the items on the agenda:

  • The board will recognize recipients of the Chippewa Valley Education Foundation Mini-Grants.
  • Contracts totaling $3,042,282 for the Phase II Electrical Improvements project to replace the fire alarm systems at and Cherokee as well as install emergency generators at Ottawa, , Huron, Miami, Cherokee and . The fire alarm and generator work will be completed this summer. The remainder of the work will be completed during the 2011-12 school year on second shift.
  • Contracts totaling $1,056,000 for roofing work at Algonquin and Wyandot middle schools. The existing roof will be replaced and a new roof installed on three additions at Algonquin Middle School. The roof at Wyandot Middle School will be restored. The work will begin in June and be completed in August.
  • Contract totaling $48,520 for commissioning services. The district will order retro-commissioning for the five district buildings with the highest energy usage: Ojibwa, Algonquin, Administration, Maintenance and . Retro-commissioning is the process of reviewing existing conditions to ensure that mechanical equipment is operating at optimal and efficient levels.
  • Contract totaling $1,526,060.23 to Peripheral Vision for the Surveillance Systems (phase II) project. The project was planned as part of the 2010 bond issue and includes interior and exterior surveillance cameras (772 cameras total) that will be installed within all buildings throughout the district.
  • An annual contract totaling $137,614 to approve the district's purchase of various custodial supplies district-wide from HP Products.

  • The board must adopt a resolution designating two representatives to serve as election representatives for the MISD Biennial Election. One representative will be instructed to vote for two of the three candidates on the ballot for two six-year terms in the election. 

The School Board meets at the Administration Building, 19120 Cass Ave. in Clinton Township.
