Nikki Simons' second grade class at Cheyenne Elementary worked all year to raise $550 to support the work of the Humane Society of Macomb.

Some spare change from the playground, $5 for washing dad's car and the contents of several piggy banks totaled together helped Nikki Simons and her second-grade Superstars raise $550 for the Humane Society of Macomb.

This year is the 18th that Simons and her class have collected "Coins for Critters."

On May 31, having raised a total of $550, the class took a field trip to the Humane Society of Macomb in Shelby Township to meet and pet some of the "critters" who would benefit from their donations.
