  • A perfect semi-fall day for the first day of school. It will be mostly sunny today, with a slightly nippy 69-degree high. Wind gusts could reach as high as 25 mph, but will likely stay in the 7-13 mph range. It will be partly cloudy tonight, with a low around 55 degrees, according to the National Weather Service
  • Parents should receive fewer calls about their high school students' cell phone use this year as both Dakota High School and Lutheran High School North have adopted more lenient policies in regard to the teen technology habit.
  • If you have a child who returned to school today, here are the addresses and phone numbers you'll need to know for 2011-12 school year.
  • Chippewa Valley, L'Anse Creuse and Utica school districts have increased their meal prices this year, so make sure your child has that extra 5 to 10 cents before they head out the door today.
  • In recognition of Macomb Township's German roots, we bring you the German Word of the Day: leer, meaning empty, is an adjective pronounced [lehr].
