Quick Tips for Would-be Grads

  • Leave your purses and cell phones in your car or with your family.
  • Agree on a post-ceremony meeting place with your family and friends prior to the start of commencement.
  • Don't wear tennis shoes, jeans or flip flops. Some schools will forbid you from walking if you are not dressed appropriately. Check the dress code ahead of time.
  • If your gown is white, opt to wear light-colored clothes beneath it. Bright patterns will show through the material.
  • Most schools require graduates arrive an hour before the ceremony's scheduled start time.
