The contest raises environmental awareness among students across the state from grades kindergarten through fifth by giving them an opportunity to creatively design a poster celebrating an Earth Day theme. The posters were judged by seven judges and were based on artistic creativity and their Earth Day theme.

Binson and the other grade winners were honored in a ceremony during the annual Earth Day Celebration hosted in Lansing by the departments of Environmental Quality, Natural Resources, and Agriculture and Rural Development.
