32nd East-West All Star Football Game Moved to Alma College

The 32nd annual MHSFCA East-West All Star Game will be played June 30 at Alma College's Bahlke Field, not Central Michigan University as originally planned.

Fans planning to follow head football and to the 32nd annual Michigan High School Football Coaches Association East-West All Star Game will have to make a slight change to their travel arragements.

The MHSFCA announced Wednesday that the game's location has been moved from Central Michigan University to Bahlke Field on the campus of Alma College. The game will still take place Saturday, June 30.

The reason for the location change is a new NCAA by-law prohibiting “non-scholastic football practice or competition” at an FBS or FCS school. Although MHSFCA applied for a waiver of the new rule on Feb. 26, that request was denied.

“The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association believes that Bahlke Field at Alma College will be an excellent venue for the 32nd Annual MHSFCA East-West All Star Game on June 30,” said Gus Kapolka, 2012 All-Star Game chairman, in a prepared statement. “We plan to make the event a great experience for the coaches, players and fans to include expanding the existing seating by adding portable bleachers with tremendous site lines.

"Alma College has pledged their full support to the MHSFCA to ensure a first-class event to include the on-campus game-week of full practice sessions and team-building and community activities that past All Star game players have said is a highlight of the athletic careers.”
