Dakota Football Coach to Take Top Spot in All-Star Game

The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association has named Dakota's Mike Giannone to coach the east team in this year's all-star game.

Before the fall football season starts in Macomb, 's Mike Giannone will travel to Central Michigan University to coach the east team in the state's 32nd East-West All-Star Game.

The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association selected Giannone to lead the east team, and named Spring Lake High School coach Jerry Rabideau to head the west in this year's all-star matchup.

“The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association is very pleased to announce that Mike Giannone and Jerry Rabideau will serve as the head coaches for the 32nd East-West All Star Game,” said Gus Kapolka, 2011 MHSFCA East-West All Star Game chair, in a prepared statement. “Mike and Jerry are extremely respected high school football coaches and represent the sport and MHSFCA very well.”

The game will be played at Kelly-Shorts Stadium on the CMU campus on June 30, and feature 88 of the best high school players in the state as selected by a state-wide group of MHSFCA member coaches.

Players in the game have yet to be announced.

As a head coach, Giannone has a career record of 120-42, including back-to-back MHSAA Division 1 State Championships at Dakota in 2006 and 2007.
