Dakota Girls Win Bowling Regional Crown

Alyssa Meade of L'Anse Creuse North won the girls individual regional championship.

The Dakota High School girls bowling team won a Division 1 regional championship this weekend at Star Lanes, according to MHSAA.

Meanwhile, both the boys and girls bowling teams from L’Anse Creuse North advanced to the state championship. The LCN boys finished second at the regional at Star Lanes, and the girls were third.

In the girls team tournament, Dakota finished first with 3,865 points. Sterling Heights Stevenson was second with 3,683, and L’Anse Creuse North was third with 3,559. All three will advance to next weekend’s state finals at Northway Lanes in Muskegon.

In the boys team tournament, L’Anse Creuse North placed second with 4,144 points. Utica prevailed with 4,156 points, and Romeo was third with 4,121 points.

Dakota and L’Anse Creuse North bowlers also excelled in the individual regional tournament.

L’Anse Creuse North senior Alyssa Meade won the girls individual regional crown with a total of 1,238. Meade had a high game of 235.

Other girls bowlers joining Meade in the state finals are Dakota’s Marissa Solnik (second, 1,235); Dakota’s Nicole Mikaelian (third, 1,217); and L’Anse Creuse North’s Samantha Gainor (sixth, 1,164).

In the boys individual regional tournament, Dakota senior Michael Jachcinski finished seventh with a score of 1,233 to qualify for the state championship.
