Dakota's Jake Johnson Places 4th in State Wrestling Meet
Dakota sophomore loses to eventual second and third place finishers on his way to fourth place in Division 1, 135 pounds, in the MHSAA tournament.
AUBURN HILLS – Jake Johnson's dance card was stacked with top finishers in the state wrestling finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills over the weekend, and the Macomb Dakota walzed right with every one of them, coming oh-so-close to making the championship final.
At the end of the day Saturday, the Dakota sophomore walked away with a fourth-place medal for the 135-pound bracket in Division 1.
On Friday night in the semifinal round, Johnson was as he wrestled Detroit Catholic Central sophomore Malik Amine. Amine won on a 3-1 decision to send Johnson to the consolation bracket.

The Dakota sophomore had a long day. In the quarterfinals Friday, he won a really close match on a 6-5 decision over Brother Rice junior Andrew Napieraj.

Richards scored a takedown in the first 10 seconds of the match and kept control of the whole first round.
He scored again in the second and third to take a 6-0 lead. Johnson hit a takedown in the final minute of the match, but it wasn't enough.
Richards finished in third place for the second straight year.
