Girls Hoops Squads Tip Off Title Quest

LCN, LHN and Dakota high schools begin district play this week.

This week begins a very exciting stretch in high school sports–the basketball playoffs.

With that in mind, I’m planning on dedicating this little column this week to the girls hoops teams who take the floor beginning Monday evening with the hopes of making a run at the game’s ultimate prize–a state championship.

What each of these local teams did in the regular season means little at this point, and with the one-and-done format of the state tournament, there is no room for a bad game.

I can’t stress to you enough how much fun it is to get out to one of these postseason ball games. 

The intensity is wonderful, the atmosphere is incredible and the tension is always high as every possession is so important.

With that said, let’s take a brief glance at the district round of the 2011 girls basketball state tournament.

  • Although the official host of the district round is , the play host to Port Huron Northern for the district opener Feb. 28 at 6 p.m.
  • Meanwhile, the Lady Crusaders host rival L’Anse Creuse High on the same night, with the game also tipping off at 6 p.m.
  • will host district play this season and squad off against Pontiac Notre Dame Prep Feb. 28 beginning at 7:30 p.m.
