On the Agenda: What CV School Board Will Consider at Tonight's Meeting

Agenda topics include almost $4 million in construction improvements to district elementary schools and more than $500,000 in other purchases.

The approval of construction contracts totaling almost $4 million and the purchase of  several hundred thousand dollars more of technology equipment are among the issues the Chippewa Valley School Board will consider at its 6:30 p.m. Monday meeting.

The following is a short overview of some of the items on the agenda:

  • Purchase of Interactive White Board Mounts: As part of the district's , movable mounts will be purchased for secondary classroom SmartBoards. The $343,706 purchase will be awarded to Thalner Electronic Laboratories, Inc. Funding for this purchase is available within the 2010 Building and Site Funds.
  • Elementary Site Improvements: Award contracts totaling $3,900,400 to McNulty Electric and Cortis Bros. for the installation of new playground equipment, a 1/8-mile walking track, new signage and landscaping at all 12 elementary buildings and site work at . Funding will come from the 2010 Building and Site Funds.
  • Replace Chippewa Valley High School Track: Award a contract totaling $344,400 to replace the Chippewa Valley High School track to Nagle Paving. Funding will come from the 2010 Building and Site Funds.
  • Affirm Latchkey Programs Compliance: Approve that the latchkey programs at Clinton Valley, Cheyenne, Cherokee, Erie, Fox, Huron, Miami, Mohawk, Ojibwa, Ottawa, Sequoyah, and Shawnee elementary schools meet the specific standards for safety procedures, including first aid, food safety, discipline, medications and access to student emergency information and telephones. Also approve that all programs meet the "Model Standards for Out-of-School Time Programs" in Michigan.

The school board meets at the Administration Building, 19120 Cass Ave., in Clinton Township.
