Six Crusader Athletes Sign to Compete in College

Six L'Anse Creuse North senior athletes signed to play college hockey, basketball, bowling and soccer Tuesday.

From Lawrence Technological University in Michigan to Lindenwood University in Missouri, six Crusader athletes have signed to play college athletics at institutions throughout the Midwest and New England.

The seniors accepted their college athletic and academic scholarships on Tuesday, May 24, at a signing event held at L'Anse Creuse North High School.

"I think Crusader Nation has really been blessed with these young men and women," said North Principal Dave Jackson. "We appreciate what they do from an athletic standpoint and also why college coaches are interested. It is because of the type of young men and women they are."

  • Alyssa West: West will play women's hockey at Lindenwood University, St. Charles, MO, NCAA Division I, Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association. West plays hockey for a travel squad, as North does not have a girls' hockey team.

"With all the cuts going on in the state and the district, I can't tell you how important athletics are for all young men and women," said athletic director Kimberly Rawski. "Statistics show that students who participate in sports have higher GPAs and better attendance."
