Yale Deals Lutheran North 30-6 Loss in Season Opener

Despite being on their home turf, the Lutheran North Mustangs couldn't pass Yale on Aug. 26.

Macomb Township’s football teams just couldn’t find Lady Luck in their season openers this week, with and falling to their competition Thursday and joining them after facing Yale Friday night.

Yale’s Gavin Smith visited the end zone twice (16-0) before Lutheran North’s John McGrath kicked a field goal and put three North points on the board heading into the half.

A third Yale touchdown and second McGrath field goal made the score 24-6 Yale.

At the end of the night, Lutheran North couldn’t catch Yale, with the visitor claiming a 30-6 victory.

Game two of the Mustangs' season will be Sept. 2 as the team travels to Hurley Field in Berkley to face Royal Oak Shrine.
