Bringing Out Your Inner Animal: Styles from the Wild

Express yourself with fall's animal inspired fashions.

As I’ve been browsing store shelves recently, a reoccurring style stands out. Many of this season’s clothing and accessories are inspired from the wild.

Prints like cheetah or zebra are a more subtle way to be feisty, in addition to a little faux fur and even animal screened shirts. Kittens, swans and deer are just a few of the animals appearing on clothing and accessories this fall.

Animal patterns and faux fur are a big part of fall fashion. Many stores are carrying cheetah patterned shoes and fuzzy coats. But the key to this trend is to wear it in moderation.

If you decide to wear a vest with a little faux fur accent, don’t wear any other fur. Likewise, if you want to look fierce by wearing a leopard print top, don’t carry a cheetah purse and wear zebra shoes. Limit each outfit to one trendy piece, and keep the rest simple.

Famous Footwear sells fur-trimmed moc boots that pair perfectly with leggings, a cute tank or tee and a long, dark cardigan on a chilly fall day. Add an animal print scarf from Love Culture for under $10 to make a major statement.

One of my favorite ways to wear the new animal trend is through jewelry. For Love 21 sells a lot of animal jewelry, including feather earrings, deer pendants and owl necklaces at a price anyone can afford. These pieces add attitude to any outfit.

In addition to these wild accessories, animals are also appearing on clothing. Some show up as patterns, like this chic sweater from H&M, available in a horse or kitten pattern. This top looks great worn with jeggings and cute flats.

Animal-themed screen tees are also very popular. Forever 21 sells a cheetah graphic tee for under $15, that pairs perfectly layered over a dark cami or thermal, and worn with skinny jeans.

For young men who want to try this trend, stores like Urban Outfitters and Kohl’s carry many animal-inspired T-shirts. Pac Sun also sells screen tees with bears and wolves. Look awesomely outdoorsy by pairing one of these with jeans and a fur-lined hoodie.

With all of the fierce fashion trends to choose from this fall, channeling your inner animal has never been easier.
