Annie brings the sun out at Henry Ford II this weekend

Henry Ford II stages popular music Thursday through Sunday

Little orphans, buckets in hand, scurry quickly out of the path of a bright hotdog cart. Dilapidated store fronts and a gorgeously festive mansion reflect the economic fluctuations of 1933 New York City at Christmas time—setting the stage perfectly for Henry Ford II High School’s production of the beloved musical, Annie.

With top-notch professionals designing the show’s choreography, vocals, scenery, and costumes, (Props to Vocal Director Chancellor Wyman, Choreographer Mitchell Finke, and Scenic Engineer Tom Lobkovich), the production’s opening night—December 8th at 7:00pm— is highly anticipated and expected to do extremely well at the box office.

Director Karen Trivelloni opened casting calls to local elementary schools, an experiment Ford’s Theatre Department has never previously undertaken. The lucky children will be playing the roles of newsies and orphans. “The kids are fun and amazing,” says Kyleen Andrews, Stage Manager. “They show up ready to work and help keep an excited, playful atmosphere.” 115 students from elementary to high school age will be performing and teching in this production of Annie as well one dog, Riley, who will playing the part of Sandy.

Three grueling months of hard-knock work for everyone involved—whether crew, orchestra, cast, directors, or parent volunteers—have breathed life into this family-familiar musical. Whether you leave the Henry Ford II Performing Arts Center dazzled by the carefully constructed sets, the cast’s stellar dancing and singing, or enchanted by our professional sounding orchestra, Henry Ford II Theatre Department wishes to thank you for your patronage and remember….THE SUN Will COME OUT TOMORROW!

Tickets may be purchased online at ShowTix4U.com for $12.00 or at the door. Performances are December 8th-10th at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 11th at 3:00 p.m. Henry Ford II Performing Arts Center is located at 11911 Clinton River Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313.
