Kohl's Cares Program Recognizes Macomb Teen's Community Service

The Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program recognized Brooke Ringler this week for her efforts to make a positive impact on the Macomb Township community through volunteerism.

A Macomb Township 12-year-old was one of 95 Michigan youth recognized this week by the Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program for their efforts to make a positive impact on the their communities through volunteerism.

Brooke Ringler will receive a $50 gift card and recognition certificate from Kohl’s to honor her community service efforts. She will also qualify for the chance to receive a $1,000 regional scholarship for post-secondary education, which Kohl’s will award in July.

Other local winners included Samantha Kook, 6, from Lenox Township; Paul James, 16, from Washington Township; and Paige Pinwinski, 11, from Shelby Township.

From the more than 200 regional winners, Kohl's will select 10 national winners to receive a total of $10,000 in scholarships. The company will also donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.

“Kohl’s is thrilled to recognize more than 2,200 young volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy to bettering the communities in which we live,” said Julie Gardner, Kohl’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, in a prepared statement. “Every effort, large or small, makes a difference. Through the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program, we strive to not only recognize these efforts but also encourage outstanding youth to improve their communities through volunteerism.”
