Breaking News: Fire Tears Through Macomb Home

Firefighters battled a blaze Friday morning at a house in Macomb Township.

The Macomb Township Fire Department battled a blaze Friday morning at a home on the 45000 block of Bonaventure Street. By noon, the Macomb Township Fire Department had contained the blaze. Neighbor Tyron Brown told Patch nobody was injured in the fire. It's not yet known if anyone was home when the fire broke out. The fire department and Macomb County Sheriff's deputies remain at the scene. Stay with Macomb Patch for further updates on this developing story.

Sheriff Recognizes Lifesaving Acts, Professional Excellence of Citizens, Deputies

More than 75 citizens and law enforcement officers were recipients of Macomb County Sheriff's Recognition Awards this week.

From the resident whose quick thinking saved the life of a neighbor to the deputy who went the extra mile to bring a drug dealer to justice, Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham recognized the actions of these individuals and more at the ninth annual Sheriff's Recognition Awards ceremony Wednesday in Macomb Township. "We don't produce a product, we provide a service," Wickersham said. "We can't give out bonuses, but we can give out awards and recognize good deeds." Judge Orders Macomb Chiropractor to Repay $22,500 to Blue Cross

Truck, Trailer Collide at 23 Mile and Heydenreich: No Injuries Reported

Macomb Township fire crews responded to an accident and small vehicle fire at 23 Mile and Heydenreich Thursday afternoon.

A two-vehicle accident near 23 Mile and Heydenreich roads momentarily shut down a portion of the intersection Thursday afternoon as Macomb Township fire crews worked to put out a small vehicle fire that had resulted from the collision. Macomb Township Fire Chief Robert Phillips said there were no injuries and Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash. Macomb Township fire crews cleared the scene shortly after 1 p.m.

Police Blotter: Stun Gun, Marijuana and Mace Found in Macomb Teen's Car

Car search reveals stun gun, marijuana, Mace and club-like wrench On April 26, at approximately 6:58 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle that appeared to be speeding in the area of 22 Mile Road and Romeo Plank. The 18-year-old Macomb Township driver was initially arrested for operating without a license, but when deputies searched the car, they found a suspected jar of marijuana, an electric stun gun, a can of Mace and a large wrench wrapped with tape and shaped like a club, according to the police report. Deputies also found a grinder, typically used for marijuana, and a glass pipe in the 17-year-old passenger's purse. The substance in the jar tested positive for marijuana and the man was arrested for possession of …

Macomb Mom Who Sent Daughter on Shoplifting Spree Given Probation

The mother charged with retail fraud and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after sending her 11-year-old on a shoplifting spree at Kroger has been ordered to serve 12 months of probation and counseling.

The Macomb Township mother convicted of sending her 11-year-old daughter on a shoplifting spree at a local Kroger has been sentenced to probation, according to a report by ClickonDetroit.com. The 29-year-old woman was arrested on Jan. 26 after Macomb County Sheriff's detectives learned she had sent her 11-year-old daughter into the Kroger at 21 Mile and Card with a shopping list and no intention paying. Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the woman waited in the parking lot with her two other children, ages 5 and 8, for her daughter to return. While in the store, the girl loaded up the cart with groceries and left without paying. The mother then proceeded to load the stolen items into her vehicle, according to police. Police Blotter: Speeding Drunken Driver Arrested on 22 Mile Road

On April 18, at approximately 1:38 a.m., a Macomb County Sheriff's deputy registered a Chesterfield Township man driving 63 mph along a 45 mph stretch of 22 Mile Road in Macomb Township. The 45-year-old driver was pulled over in the area of Card Road and Emanuel Drive where he was asked to perform a series of sobriety tests. The man failed these tests and registered a blood alcohol content of .168 in his preliminary breath test, according to the police report. The man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a high blood alcohol content and transported to the Macomb County Jail. Fist Fight Leads to Death, Mount Clemens Teen Faces Manslaughter Charge

Mount Clemens resident Sean David Lawrence Bozich, 17, is alleged to have sent the blows that resulted in the death of a 39-year-old Mount Clemens man from blunt force trauma to the head.

The death of a 39-year-old Mount Clemens man from blunt force trauma to the head could send his alleged 17-year-old attacker to prison for manslaughter. On April 17, Macomb County Sheriff's deputies found Michael W. Martin, 39, dead in his Mount Clemens home. At approximately 5:15 p.m., the sheriff's office received a 911 call of a man not breathing. When deputies arrived at Martin's home, he was dead. Further investigation suggested that Martin had been a "victim of foul play," and police arrested 17-year-old Mount Clemens resident Sean David Lawrence Bozich, who witnesses told police had struck Martin several times during a fist fight on April 14, around midnight.  According to witness reports, one of Bozich's blows caused Martin to fall…

Macomb Township Target Briefly Evacuated After Small Fire

Macomb Township firefighters quickly put out a small fire that forced the evacuation of the Target on Hall Road.

Target on Hall Road in Macomb Township was evacuated for approximately two hours Thursday because of a small fire. Firefighters received a call from the store at about 8:15 a.m. and extinguished the fire by 8:37 a.m., according to Capt. Gary Ross of the Macomb Township Fire Department. Target employees had reported seeing and smelling smoke. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered that the uninterruptible power supply—a device that keeps the computer system running—was smoking. Firefighters were able to control the blaze by using dry-chemical fire extinguishers. There were no injuries and damage to the store was minimal.
