On Aug. 21 at approximately 1:15 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 56-year-old Ray Township man alleged to have hit a car parked in the 26 Mile Road Kroger parking lot and then attempted to leave the scene. Deputies administered a series of field sobriety tests, which the man failed, and a preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol content of .33. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. His vehicle was impounded and the man was taken to the Macomb County Jail where a $200 bond was set. Drunken Driving Arrest A Macomb County Sheriff's deputy arrested a 48-year-old Shelby Township man near 21 Mile and Pamela on July 17 around 8:35 p.m. for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. According to the police report, a deputy observed the man driving recklessly through a parking lot and failing to stop when exiting the lot onto 21 Mile Road. The deputy stopped the man and upon smelling alcohol, had him complete sobriety tests. A preliminary breath test registered the man as having a .129 blood alcohol level. He was taken to Macomb County Jail overnight and his bond set at $100. He was issued a temporary driver's permit, according to the report. Man Arrested in Hit-and-Run Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a home on the 47000 block of Beacon Square on July 5 around 2 a.m. for the report of a vehicle hitting a parked car. Deputies observed that a Pontiac Grand Am had crashed into a parked Buick Regal. The Grand Am's front airbags had deployed and 105 feet of skid marks were found leading up to the crash site. Deputies believe the Grand Am was driving southbound on Beacon Square at a high rate of speed when it struck the Regal head on. Witnesses to the accident said the man who got out of the Grand Am approached them and said he would leave the scene and return with a family member. The man never returned to the scene.
