Biggby, a Lansing-based coffee chain, is offering $.99 tall hot and iced drinks Wednesday, March 20.
Biggby Coffee is another year older and will be celebrating its 18th birthday Wednesday with 99-cent tall, hot or iced drinks until 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20. After 5 p.m., all drinks will be 50 percent off. In 1995, co-founders Bob Fish and Mary Roszel, opened the very first Biggby location in East Lansing, MI. The coffee chain now has 164 cafes open or under contract across six states in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Texas, according to Biggby. The Macomb Township Biggby is located at 18309 Hall Rd. Nearby, New Baltimore has welcomed a Biggby Coffee at 36540 Green Street in recent months.

The coffee company will start offering the $1 cups Thursday.
Starting Thursday, Starbucks will be offering a more eco-friendly way to enjoy their coffee According to the Detroit Free Press, the coffee giant will begin selling reusable cups on Jan. 3 in an attempt to reduce the waste created by customers purchasing millions of beverages every day—and throwing their cups away. The cups will retail for $1 and fill up to a grande size of a cup of joe. Each refill in a reusable cup—be it one of the new tumblers or another Starbucks mug—earns the user a dime off their purchase. The cups have already debuted on the west coast, but will hit all Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada—including Clinton Township's store in The Mall at Partridge Creek—on Thursday. Customers who return a completed "Dollars for Jobs" envelope or make a contribution to Goodwill donation boxes on site will receive a free short coffee.
With National Coffee Day on Saturday, lots of local shops are starting their celebrations early, including Biggby Coffee. On Friday, between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., customers at Biggby locations in Clinton and Macomb towships (and others across Metro Detroit) can receve a free short coffee when they return a completed “Dollars for Jobs – Pass It Forward” envelope to the store or make a contribution to Goodwill donation boxes on site. The “Dollars for Jobs” campaign envelopes are designed to be filled with dollar bills and passed from person to person until reaching 25 people. In addition, Biggby will donate $1 for every “like” they receive on their Southeast Michigan Biggby Locations Facebook page during the same time period.

Biggby Coffee on 21 and Hayes Road will host a classic car show every Friday evening, beginning tonight.
Biggby Coffee on 21 Mile and Hayes roads in Shelby Township will be cranking up the Beach Boys music Friday while classic car enthusiasts show off their hot rods. Every Friday at 5 p.m. throughout the summer, the public is invited to show off their muscle cars in the parking lot while sipping on a cup of hot or cold Joe. The idea is the brain child of Ford employee, John Daraban, who said he is hoping to attract car enthusiast - young and young-at-heart. Daraban said he would love for people to bring their classic cars, and new vehicles, too. "Should be a good turnout of cars," he said.

Fundraising will begin Feb. 1 to help pay for a veteran's monument in Mount Clemens to commemorate Macomb County's fallen soldiers.
All nine Biggby Coffee shops in Macomb County will begin selling icons in order to raise money for a veteran’s monument in Mount Clemens. The 9-foot structure will be in the shape of a pentagon and will feature twin towers on the top to honor Sept. 11 victims. The names of the county's fallen soldiers who died during the War on Terrorism will be inscribed along the side of the columns. Biggby Franchise Owner Dave Danyko and Veterans Affairs Coordinator for Shelby Township, Phil Randazzo, introduced the fund-raising effort at the last Board of Trustees meeting.
