Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns said recent 2012 MEAP results show a need to strengthen science instruction across the district.
Though pleased with overall student performance on the 2012 Michigan Educational Assessment Program, or MEAP test, Utica Community Schools’ superintendent says there is always room for improvement, namely in the area of science. “We’re pleased with the performance overall, specifically in the area of math, which showed increased growth in all grades,” said Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns. “If you look at numbers across the county, you’ll observe our performance is very consistent in all of our subject areas and we’re pleased about that.” According to results released Monday, Utica students scored above state average in every subject and grade level tested by the 2012 MEAP. Dr. Christine Johns fielded questions Monday evening in Kentucky, as parents asked how she will help the Jefferson County School District if she became the superintendent.
Utica Community Schools Superintendent Christine Johns is in the fight of her career as she fielded questions for more than an hour Monday night in Louisville, KY, according to WHAS-TV 11 in Kentucky. Several days after the Jefferson County Public Schools announced Johns was one of two candidates considered for the superintendent post of the 100,000-plus-student school district, she appeared before parents in a public forum. On Tuesday evening, the other candidate, Donna Hargens of North Carolina, will go before the public to share her vision of the district’s future. UCS Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns has been chosen as a finalist for the superintendent position in Louisville, KY.
Utica Community Schools may soon be looking for a new superintendent. Dr. Christine Johns is one of two finalists for the superintendent post at the nation’s 28th-largest school district, Jefferson County Public Schools, in Louisville KY. According to DNJ.com, the Jefferson County School Board announced Wednesday after a four-hour private meeting that either long-time educators Johns or Donna Hargens of North Carolina will replace Superintendent Sheldon Berman, whose contract expires June 30. “It’s a unique opportunity for her (Johns),” said UCS representative Tim McAvoy, who added that it’s not unusual for search firms to approach candidates they believe would be a good fit for an open position. I second the words spoken above. I have found not one person that has anything good to say about her. She needs to be replaced.... Soon... before it's too late. Here's a scarey thought.... What happens when their new cleaning crew (GCA) screws up so bad that it can' t be covered up? They have had a lot of close calls (ie... Stevenson) . What happens then?
